Pratistha - The Career Hub

In the year 2009, the college built it with the financial assistance of UGC special-CD-Grant to provide courses and
training necessary to develop academic and management skill, leadership ability, and entrepreneurship, and to
improve the employment potentiality of the emerging graduates so that they can take on the challenges of modern-day
job market.

For the quality assurance, the Hub is equipped with both the necessary infrastructural support and the teaching aids,
viz. lecture theatres, LCD projector, machine for photocopying, facilities for DTP works, technologically advanced
and integrated computers, internet connectivity etc.
The courses provided here are

(i) UGC-sponsored career oriented courses,

(ii) UGC-sponsored NET/SET coaching to the regular and ex-students,

(iii) Value added Certificate courses in Computer Applications, Information Technology, and spoken English,

(iv) Training to develop business / managerial skill for self-employment.

(v) NIELIT Computer Courses ['O' Level].

It is worthy to note that the college has also taken up a project for English Language Teaching Lab. to provide practical training in spoken English and soft-skill. As a whole “Pratistha” has become an integral part to the student, staff and faculty of the college.

Students' Employment and Academic Placement cum Counseling Cell ( Career Counseling Cell)

Since the inception on 6th March, 2003, the cell actively provides information, assistance, guidance, instruction and counseling to regular students and graduates of the college, for job-placement and admission to higher degree/diploma or other academic courses and maintains regular correspondence with different organizations, industry and institutions. The notable activities of the cell are

(i) organization of three Free Academic Counseling and Coaching sessions for West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBCSSC), RLS Test, in which 620 ex-students of the college attended more than 800 classes offered by 70 faculty members. In 2010-2011, 12 students who attended the course and mock-interview have been empanelled for appointment as Assistant Teacher by WBCSSC.

(ii) organization of mock-interview sessions, training in soft-skill and communicative English. Some of our trainee students have been recruited by well-known companies like CIPLA, Procter & Gamble, HDFC Life, Tata Johnson Controls Automotive Ltd., and others. On the basis of the exemplary achievement of the Career and Counseling Cell, the college has received UGC grant under 11th Plan to introduce new courses for Entry-in-Services and Job Placement.
